West Linn, OR
Economics, Innovation Management

Hello! My name is Pope McHenry and I am a junior studying Economics through the College of Liberal Arts and part of the Innovation Management Double Degree Program through the College of Business. I will also be graduating with a minor in Music.

After spending my first few years of life in Lake Oswego, Oregon, my family and I ended up relocating to southwest Ohio, and southern California, before finally settling down back in the Pacific Northwest. I grew up in West Linn, Oregon and graduated from West Linn High School in 2014. Back home I was involved with Young Life, Boy Scouts of America (earning my Eagle), as well as athletics including soccer and varsity lacrosse.

While Oregon State University was actually one of my last choices for college, after just a couple years here I cannot imagine having gone anywhere else. From the campus to the student organizations to the faculty, OSU and Corvallis have allowed me to grow, learn, and work towards becoming who I want to be, more than I could have ever imagined. The University Honors College has been a huge part of that, providing unique class opportunities and honors sections of many of required or core classes that are ideal learning environments.

Outside of school, I am involved in the thriving Greek community here in Corvallis as a member of the Oregon Alpha chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon and participate in College Young Life. Another one of my favorite activities is getting out and seeing the natural beauty that Oregon provides such as Mary’s Peak, Newport, and Silver Falls State Park all within an hour drive of campus.

I am a great resource if you’re trying to decide on an area of study or still exploring majors. I have changed my major multiple times while attending OSU including a wide range from Mechanical Engineering to Music Production. If you have questions about that or anything else please feel free to contact me. I can't wait to hear from you.
