Worried about the winter blues?

The Honors College is here to support you — not just in your academic success but in your wellness too. This term, we’re hosting events that help you stay well and succeed. Events for the term are listed below!

At these events, be sure to pick up your Winter Wellness Passport and start collecting faculty signatures at each event! Attend 4 or more HC Winter Wellness events and you can enter to win a Dutch Bros gift card. Attend 6 or more and you can enter to win a Beaver Bookstore gift card.

Planting Connections

Wednesday, Jan. 14 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in LINC 345

To kick off the term, Honors College students are invited to come grab a succulent, paint their own plant pot, and meet new HC students! All supplies, as well as light snacks and drinks, will be provided for students. Questions about this program and accommodation requests can be directed to [email protected]. POP Into Winter Wellness!

Wednesday, Jan. 21 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. in the SLUG

Take a break and warm up your winter with a fun, lowkey and relaxing wellness event! Join us for a Popcorn Bar featuring a variety of tasty toppings and flavors. This is a great opportunity to connect with fellow students, recharge and enjoy a treat on Wednesday, January 21 from 2-4 p.m. in the SLUG (LInC 340).

Self-Care During Midterms

Thursday, Jan. 29 from 3:30-5 p.m. in LInC 345

The Honors College is partnering with CAPS to help students learn the best ways to care for themselves as midterms approach. Join us to hear from a CAPS Ambassador about the importance of self-care during stressful times. Students will review a “Dam Good Growth Guide” and learn about ways they can care for their mental health this term and beyond. We will then have time to work on some fun activities to practice the skills in the Dam Good Growth Guide!

Dive-In Movie

Sunday, Feb.1 from 5-8 p.m. in the Dixon Pool

Honors College students are invited to make a splash at the HC Dive-In Movie Night! Float, swim, or lounge poolside while enjoying a reel good movie on February 1 from 5 - 8 p.m. Spots are limited to 50, so don’t let your place float away! RSVP today!

Honors College Community Coffee (HC3)

Wednesday, Feb. 11 from 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m. in LINC 340

All Honors College students, faculty and staff are invited to enjoy coffee, conversation and snacks at the winter term Honors College Community Coffee, on Wednesday, February 11 from 8:30 - 10 a.m. in the SLUG (LInC 340).

At this HC3, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about National and Global Scholarships Advising, an OSU advising resource that supports undergraduate and graduate students and alumni who wish to explore nationally competitive scholarships.

You’ll also have the opportunity to learn about Design for Social Impact, a multidisciplinary, project-driven initiative that connects students, faculty and community partners to tackle real-world challenges through design-thinking and hands-on solutions.

Café con CAFE

Monday, Feb. 9 from 4-5 p.m. in the LInC 345

Join the Honors College for "Café con CAFE," a financial wellness event! CAFE, the Center for Advancing Financial Education, is a free resource for students that provides support and education on resources and information to navigate college and make sound financial decisions. At this event, students will be learning the basics of building their own budget, that can be applied in many ways, from their meal plan to their tuition bill and everything in between! This event will take place on February 9th from 4-5pm in LINC 345. Students are encouraged to bring something to write with and on, have a general idea of their personal finances (or, at least the ones they want to build a budget for!)

SLUG Love

Thursday, Feb.12 from 2-4 p.m.

Celebrate the season of friendship and love at our Slug Love Winter Wellness Event! Join us in the SLUG for a cozy Valentine’s‑themed afternoon making friendship bracelets, decorating cookies and enjoying snacks. There may even be a raffle!

Crafternoon with the HC!

Wednesday, February 18, 2-4 p.m.

Take an afternoon break and get creative with the Honors College! Join us on Tuesday, February 18 from 2–4:00 p.m. in the SLUG for a cozy Crafternoon where you can unwind, make something fun and connect with fellow HC students. Finals Week Survival Skills

Monday, Feb. 23 from 4-5 p.m. in LINC 345

Join the Honors College and the Academic Success Center for an interactive session focused on effective strategies to prepare for finals. Learn practical tips to manage your time, study efficiently, and reduce stress as the term wraps up.

Free Tax Help Night for Honors College Students

Wednesday, March 4 from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. in LINC 343 and 345

Need help filing your taxes? Oregon State University’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is hosting a Special Tax Night for Honors College students on March 4th from 5:30pm-7:30pm. During this session, trained, IRS-certified volunteers will guide you step-by-step as you complete your own tax return and answer any questions you may have along the way.

This service is completely free and designed to help students feel confident filing their taxes and claiming the credits they’re eligible for. Space is limited, so advance registration is encouraged.

DIY Zen Gardens with CLA

Tuesday, March 10 from 3-5 p.m. in Bexell Lounge (Room 208)

The Honors College is excited to be partnering with the College of Liberal Arts for a DIY Zen Garden night! HC students are invited to attend this fun event in Bexell Hall Lounge on March 10th from 3-5 p.m. HC students will be able to make their own zen gardens with students from the College of Liberal Arts, providing a fun opportunity to meet new students while making something fun for their mental health care. We ask that students interested register, so we know how much we need. Snacks and drinks will be provided, but students will bring the good times!
