Hi! My name is Alice, and I can’t pinpoint the exact moment I decided to be a veterinarian, but I’ve always known that I wouldn’t be happy working anywhere unless animals were involved. Originally I had thought I would one day open up my own practice and provide care for small animals, but I found a greater passion as I grew older to care for the endangered and protected animals of our planet. Once I discovered specialized zoo and sanctuary veterinary care was a possibility I haven’t been able to stop dreaming about it.
Growing up on a farm with over 200 head of cattle, cats, dogs, bunnies, and horses (one of these being my troublemaking gypsy vanner) has helped nurture my love and understanding of animals. I’ve also spent the last two years working at South Willamette Veterinary Clinic in Creswell, Oregon under the practice of small animal vet, Dr. Kristine Willaman and large animal vet, Dr. Wes Violet. This opportunity has helped my knowledge of the veterinary career path grow, and has exposed me to the many joys of the job as well as the many harsh realities that accompany it.
I’m so grateful to become a part of this program and have the opportunity to be mentored by Dr. Stacy Semevolos as I explore the path ahead of me!
