Dr. Luiz Bermudez
Animals Science, Pre-Vet Option

It started with cats. My obsession with pets only grew from there, extending to rabbits, dogs, hamsters and chickens. Then I started horseback riding at age twelve and was hooked on yet another species. Throughout high school, I worked at various lesson barns to gain experience with horses. I additionally volunteered with Forward Stride, a barn which offers hippotherapy, as well as with the Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon. After shadowing vets along the way, it became abundantly clear that veterinary medicine was the right path for me. I am currently considering a focus on equine medicine but am also interested in some specialization (such as ophthalmology or dermatology). I am very excited to be a part of the Pre-Vet Scholars program and look forward to learning all that I can in the coming years!
