Hello! My name is Athena, I use she/her pronouns and I’m from Bend, Oregon! I’m a third-year student at Oregon State University studying microbiology with an aquatic option, with minors in chemistry and marine biology. I hope to go on to graduate school after graduation with the goal of going into research!

Being both an in-state student and a science-oriented student, Oregon State seemed like the perfect place to explore my interests while staying in the amazing Pacific Northwest atmosphere I’ve grown up in. The Honors College was the cherry on top of this, offering great opportunities for smaller class sizes and conducting research through a thesis!

Outside of the Honors College, I am involved in undergraduate research through the Vega-Thurber lab, and I am an officer for Sigma Delta Omega, which is Oregon State’s sorority for women in science. In my other free time I’m generally cooking, watching movies or exploring the amazing outdoors around Corvallis!

As you transition into college, I hope ambassadors such as myself can make this time more exciting than scary, so please reach out with any questions about the Honors College, the College of Science, Greek life, undergraduate research or anything else!
