Congrats to 2023 HC graduate Ellie Boryer! Ellie earned an H.B.S. in botany with a minor in chemistry and completed their thesis, “Making the Microbial World Large: Assessing Best Microbiological Engagement and Teaching Methods for High School Students,” under the mentorship of Dr. Rebecca Vega Thurber, the Emile F. Pernot Distinguished Professor of microbiology in the College of Science. Ellie is not completely sure about their post-graduation plans, but currently they plan to travel to Ireland and work on organic farms. When they are done traveling, Ellie will be trying to get a position at a botanical garden, in sustainable agriculture or maybe something completely different. While they're still figuring everything out, they will be volunteering when they can at local community gardens and farms.
