Hello! My name is Gaurav, and my pronouns are he/his/him. I am a second-year majoring in electrical and computer engineering with a minor in computer science. Being a tech fanatic, I am fascinated by the evolution of the tech industry over the past decades, specifically semiconductor development. The way semiconductors play a vital role in the functioning of the electronics around us makes it a riveting, although challenging career choice.
I grew up in Mumbai, India, and I really enjoy the beaches, food and the sport of cricket in my city. However, rather than staying there or other places, I chose Oregon State University for two main reasons: the curriculum and the location. Before choosing the university, I researched a lot about the curriculum that is going to be taught over the course of my degree and found it to be superior to other competing universities. Secondly, being located in the heart of the Willamette Valley, the university is surrounded by nature which makes it quite a peaceful place to study and enjoy.
After coming to Oregon State, I applied to the Honors College. The main reason I joined the Honors College is because of the undergraduate research program. I realized that being a tech fanatic and entering the research area for technology would be amusing, as the job of researching has always fascinated me. Furthermore, after talking with advisors from the Honors College, there are advantages of enrolling, such as small collaborative classrooms, engaging in classes that I enjoy and getting additional support from the honors advisors.
From my experience at Oregon State, I am confident that I can answer questions regarding the Honors College, College of Engineering, volunteer programs and sports clubs, as I am a financial officer and captain for the table tennis club, and a learning assistant for calculus. Additionally, if you ever want to talk about the tech industry, I guarantee that we are going to have an awesome conversation! Please, feel free to reach out anytime!
