Hello there! My name is Prajna (pronounced preg-na) and my pronouns are she/hers. I am currently a fourth-year student majoring in microbiology with a pre-med option and a chemistry minor. I have always been fascinated by how the tiny microbes we can’t even see can have tremendous impacts on human health – very humbling in a way. That, combined with my love for working with people is why medicine has always been a dream for me.

I grew up near Denver, Colorado, but moved to Portland in high school. Aside from the breathtaking campus, I applied to Oregon State University because I had heard about the great pre-med support they have, as well as the focus given to research. But I don’t think I truly appreciated either thing until I actually got here. Similarly, the main reason for joining Honors College was initially for the small class sizes and the added challenge to help prepare for medical school, but it has become so much more than that. I very quickly fell in love with the supportive community, interesting colloquia and the fun events.

Aside from being an Honors College Ambassador, I am engaged in undergraduate research at the Barbar Lab and am also part of the Indian Students Association and YogICC club. I love going on walks around campus and am so ready to see campus lively again!

If you have any questions about the Honors College, College of Science, pre-med resources at Oregon State, getting involved or anything at all, please feel free to reach out!
