There are special commencement garments that signify your achievement as an Honors College graduate. If you are participating in the June 2025 commencement ceremony, you will be able to pick up and pay for your Honors College regalia at the OSU Graduation Fair in April 2025. Come by the Honors College table and see Dewi, the HC advising coordinator, April 18th and 19th from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Students unable to attend the OSU Graduation Fair will be able to pick up and pay for the honors regalia order at the OSU Beaverstore any time after April 19, 2025.
Cascades students should refer to the Cascades commencement information/website for campus specific details.
Note: To take advantage of a regalia bundle that isn’t available online, Ecampus and Cascades students are encouraged to order their HC regalia over the phone at (541) 737-4323.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Dewi Roberts by phone at 541-737-6414, or by email at [email protected].

Regalia FAQs
Can I use my [sisters, brother's, friend's, etc.] old gown?
It must be approved. You may wear a used black Josten’s gown; but if you plan on using a gown from previous years, bring it with you the day of the graduation fair, for approval. A gown in good condition used at a recent OSU graduation will likely be approved, but it’s best to be safe. If your gown is not approved and the managing staff at commencement feel that your regalia is incorrect, they can pull you from commencement for incorrect wardrobe.
Can I rent my regalia?
You cannot rent undergraduate regalia.
Why am I not wearing an orange and black tassel?
Each academic college has a specific color tassel that represents it. You don’t need to know your college’s color, you just need to know which college you will be walking with. The classic orange and black tassel with 2025 on it is a souvenir tassel. You can purchase one at any time between the graduation fair and commencement from the bookstore. You don’t need one for graduation; they are simply souvenirs.
Tam vs. Mortar Board Hat
You aren’t required to wear a tam; however, the tam is a major signifier of your achievement and a key part of the Honors College regalia.
Honor Cords
Honors cords are not unique to the Honors College, rather the cords signify academic distinction to any OSU student who has met a set criteria and GPA requirement. Graduates with academic distinction are entitled to wear an honor cord over their gown. Students must have at least 90 credits or 60 upper division credits at OSU, with a 3.5 or better GPA.
