The Honors College is one of the programs at Oregon State that charges Differential Tuition. Honors College students are assessed HC differential tuition each fall, winter and spring term, and this charge is included in the cost of attendance at the university. The HC differential tuition enables the Honors College to provide small honors classes, academic advising, co-curricular activities and other core elements of the Honors College student experience. Information about the cost of attendance at OSU and tuition tables for each enrollment year can be found on the university's tuition and fees page.
HC differential tuition is currently $520 per term for full-time students (enrolled in 12 or more credits that term) and $260 for part-time students (enrolled in less than 12 credits that term) and will appear on a student's billing account each fall, winter and spring term, based on their enrollment level during that term.
Concerns about the cost of education at Oregon State University - The Honors College recognizes that the HC Differential Tuition associated with enrollment in the Honors College can present an additional financial challenge for students. Students who are concerned about the cost of education should contact the Oregon State University Office of Financial Aid. The Office of Financial Aid welcomes questions and can help identify resources and strategies. Visit financialaid.oregonstate.edu or call 541.737.2241.
Oregon State University encourages all students to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year. This is a requirement for many types of aid. Students who have questions about their eligibility to complete a FAFSA may still be eligible for other types of financial aid and should review the resources.
Honors College scholarships for incoming students (new to the Honors College) - The Honors College awards a small number of scholarships to incoming first-year and transfer students. Typically, HC awards for incoming students are $1,000. There is no application for Honors College incoming student scholarships. All admitted HC students will be considered for Honors College scholarships based on information (including financial need) in the student's OSU and HC applications and university record. Notifications of awards will be sent to selected students between March 31st and May 1st of each year.
Note - Although there is no application for Honors College incoming student scholarships, eligibility for many other Oregon State University scholarships does require incoming students to complete applications in the ScholarDollars system, which students can access using their ONID credentials. If you have questions about ScholarDollars or about how to log in, contact the OSU Scholarships Office via email or by calling 541-737-1125. You can also review the materials on their website.
Honors College scholarships for continuing HC students – Whether or not you are selected for a scholarship as an incoming student, the HC offers scholarships and financial support options to students beginning in their first term in the college. More information about these options can be found on the Honors College Scholarships for Current Students page. Students who are having difficulties paying the HC differential tuition are encouraged to speak with an honors advisor.
