Position Description
The student(s) will manage cows by feeding them and collecting blood. There will be assays in the laboratory by measuring blood parameters, nitrogen molecules in urine and feces using liquid chromatography (LC) and milk fatty acid composition in milk using gas chromatography. There is also the possibility to measure cannabinoids in milk using LC-MS.
Project Description
In this project we will feed hempseed meal to lactating dairy cows for 1 month followed by one month withdrawal of the hempseed meal from the diet. We will measure daily feed intake, we will collect blood, feces, and urine to measured many parameters, and we will collect milk to measure components and cannabinoids.
