Animal Science, Pre-Vet Option

Hi, I'm Becca. I chose this program because I'm interested in learning about how to care for animals, and how that relates to caring for ourselves and the environment. I'm an incoming freshman and I am excited to start this program! I am also interested in nutrition, which is my minor, and how that relates to animal health.

Biology with a concentration on Pre-Veterinary Sciences

Hi! My name is Madison Dabb, and I am from Colorado Springs, CO. I am a freshman majoring in Biology, with a concentration on Pre-Veterinary Science. I have endeavored to be a veterinarian my entire life, and have spent my years gaining as much experience in and around the field as possible. Since the age of eight, I have volunteered with dog rescues local to my area, I have run my own pet-sitting business since 2020, I was employed as a Veterinary Kennel Technician for the summer of 2023, and as a groomers assistant for the summer of 2024, and I regularly volunteer on a cattle ranch in Colorado. I am equally passionate about environmental preservation and species protection. I aspire to one day operate a veterinary clinic with sustainability at the forefront of my practice. Presently, I am eager to continue this path and immerse myself in the opportunities that the PVS program offers me!

Animal Science, Pre-Vet Option

Hello everybody, my name is Mia! I’m so excited to be starting my first year here at Oregon state! I come from Klamath Falls, down in Southern Oregon. Growing up, most kids wanted to be a princess, or an astronaut, but as a little girl, I knew veterinary medicine was my path. This last year I’ve been working as a large animal veterinary technician, which only further solidified my passion for veterinary medicine. In addition to my work, I competed as an athlete for OHSET (Oregon High School Equestrian Team) with my mare Lady. Not only did I get to further my knowledge of equine veterinary medicine through her, but she also carried me all the way to the Pacific North West Invitational Championships. Here we placed top three in team cattle sorting out of all Washington and Oregon competitors. I’m excited to carry my equine and veterinary passion to life through the Pre-Veterinary Scholars Program, but also, hopefully, through the equestrian team here at OSU. I am excited to see what I can achieve through this program and as a beaver!

Animal Science, Pre-Vet Option

Hello everyone, my name is Kimmi and I am an avid animal lover! Growing up, my family has taken care of a variety of pets such as dogs, cats, rats, fish, chickens, and even a leopard gecko at one point. Working with animals has been something I've wanted to pursue for a long time. Specifically, I am interesting in working towards a career as a veterinary surgeon. However, I know that as my education progresses and I get more hands, my interests may change toward other paths in the veterinary field. Nevertheless, whatever job my future self ends up at, I know that this program will provide me the foundational knowledge and experience I need to exceed. I am so incredible thankful to have been chosen as a participant, and I am excited to start working with everyone!

Hi, my name is Clare McDonald and my pronouns are she/her. I have been interested in veterinary medicine since I was in second grade and I have been riding horses for most of my life. My interest in veterinary science has grown through shadowing at clinics in my hometown and caring for my own cat Cleo. She is a long-haired calico who always has a lot to say. In my free time I love listening to live music, baking, drinking tea, and being outside. I am so excited to join the PVS community and the beaver campus!

Hello! My name is Kylie. I have come to OSU from the depths of Las Vegas. I've always wanted to work in the science/medical field, and have recently decided that my passion is to work with animals. I've loved animals for as long as I could remember, although cats are my favorite. In my free time I like listening to music, reading dystopian novels, and binging different shows! I hope to enjoy my time at OSU and (hopefully) become a veterinarian at the end of my journey!

Hey everyone! My name is Jared, and I'm from Portland, Oregon. I've been around all types of animals for most of my life, but my passion for animals and veterinary science began when I first began to watch veterinary shows like Dr. Pol and Yukon Vet. Since then, I've spent time shadowing veterinarians, volunteering on farms, and working with wildlife organizations like Cascadia Wild. In my free time, you'll find me listening to music, playing guitar, working out, getting outside, or completely nerding out over my latest interest. I'm excited for the opportunities ahead, and getting to know and work with you all!

Biohealth Sciences

Hello, I'm Tessa! I'm from Beaverton, Oregon. I'm a first-year student majoring in biohealth! I was torn between majoring in biohealth or environmental sciences, so I'm looking for a career that can merge the two topics together. I figured veterinary science may be good one to try, so I'm exploring! I've always enjoyed taking care of animals. I've spent about four years volunteering at the horse therapy center Forward Stride where I'd do horse care chores every week. I have also volunteered at Cat Adoption Team!
