Note: Honors Experiential Award applications are not reviewed on a rolling basis. Please read the following instructions carefully before submitting.

Honors College undergraduates in need of financial support for experiential learning opportunities that advance their educational goals and support completion of their honors degree can apply for an Honors Experience Scholarship. Eligible experiences include, but are not necessarily limited to, Oregon State University-authorized study abroad or internship opportunities, professional or research-related travel, service learning, course fees for experiential course opportunities and thesis research. Unanticipated expenses related to your ability to engage in experiential learning during the current pandemic are eligible for consideration.

Applicants must include a detailed budget for how the requested funds will be used, a statement about why receipt of funds is essential to the experience, a description of the experience, and a clear statement of how the experience will further the applicant’s education and support honors completion. Experiences are eligible for up to $1,000 in funding. All recipients may be asked to participate in HC or OSU marketing activities and some portion of scholarship awards may be held until recipients have provided documentation of their experience for the HC.

In order to be eligible for these need-based scholarships and grants, students must be enrolled and in good standing with the Honors College through the time of the experience. Awards are competitive and are evaluated based on the impact of the funds and the proposed experience on applicants’ long-term plans and educational goals. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate both financial need and a strong commitment to completing their Honors Baccalaureate degree requirements; applications from students who have not previously received an Honors Experience Scholarship will be given priority. Students must apply for funding in advance of any proposed experience by the below deadlines. Applications will not be reviewed on a rolling basis, but as a group, following the deadline for each term. However, if a student becomes aware of an opportunity to present at or attend a conference between deadlines and requires more timely review, we will work to accommodate their timeline. This exception only applies to conference travel; all other applications will be reviewed according to the following schedule.
