Honors experiential scholarships and grants are available to HC undergraduates in good standing in support of learning experiences outside of the classroom that advance a student's educational goals. Eligible experiences include Oregon State University-authorized study abroad or internship opportunities, professional or research-related travel, service learning, and thesis research. Depending on the proposed experience, awarded funds may be paid in the form of scholarships or as reimbursements/direct bills to the HC. In order to be eligible, students must be enrolled in the HC through the time of the experience and be making satisfactory progress toward the Honors Baccalaureate degree requirements. Paid experiences are not eligible for additional funding. The Honors College is not, at this time, able to provide scholarship funding in support of internships or study abroad opportunities pursued outside of OSU Global Opportunities or otherwise not approved by university international programs and risk management.

Students may apply for $1,000 in experiential funding during their time in the Honors College. Students are not typically eligible to receive more than one Honors Experience Scholarship. Awards are competitive and are evaluated on the impact of the funds and the proposed experience on applicant's long-term plans and educational goals. Receipt of one experiential award from the HC typically disqualifies students from receiving additional awards. Students must apply for funding in advance of any proposed experience.

All applications must include a detailed budget for how the requested funds will be used, a statement about why receipt of funds is essential to the experience, a description of the experience, and a clear statement of how the experience will further the applicant's education. Priority will be given to students who need scholarship funding in order to participate in an experience In some cases, awards will be made conditional upon receipt of Oregon State credits for the experience. All recipients may be asked to participate in HC or OSU marketing activities and some portion of scholarship awards may be held until recipients have provided documentation of their experience for the HC.

Review of applications can take up to six weeks, so please apply as early as possible. If your application requires more rapid review, follow up with an email to honors.college@oregonstate.edu.
