"Learning the System” from the spring 2004 Chronicle is a fascinating piece on how the make-up of the Honors College population affects the course offerings within the HC. It offers a behind the scenes glance at how course catalogs are filled and discusses the process of a class becoming an honors course. The piece offers some insight into the frustrations of those in what may be considered non-traditionally honors majors, who found difficulty accessing honors classes in their area of study. It also discusses how the Honors College has adapted to ensure inclusivity across disciplines, especially when other honors programs (such as the Clark Honors College at University of Oregon) exist as an extension of a specific field. I personally found this piece to be an inspiring reminder of the HC’s commitment to inclusivity across majors and a testament to its interdisciplinary objectives. — Ava Wittman, Student Writer
