Welcome and Leadership Transition

Welcome to the Oregon State University Honors College! As the home for more than 2,500 of the most accomplished and engaged undergraduates at Oregon State, the Honors College is a national leader in providing transformative educational opportunities for motivated and ambitious students, driving innovation across the entire university. The HC is open to all majors and to the communities in Corvallis, at OSU‑Cascades and on Ecampus, and it is a key contributor to Oregon State University’s strategic goals of fueling a thriving world and having every student graduate.

It is my honor to be the interim dean of the Honors College, following Toni Doolen’s remarkable twelve-year term as dean, which concluded in 2025. Having served as associate dean since 2024, I am grateful for the opportunity to provide continuity and leadership during a period of transition.

My appointment coincides with two changes that will guide the future of the honors at OSU: the Honors College’s move into the Division of Academic Affairs at the beginning of 2025 and the upcoming retirement of Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs Alix Gitelman at the end of June 2026. The timeline for a search for a permanent Honors College dean will be determined in partnership with the new senior vice provost for academic affairs. This approach ensures thoughtful alignment, shared vision and long‑term stability for the college.

During this interim period, I am providing leadership across all areas of the Honors College, the Design for Social Impact program and National and Global Scholarships Advising, working closely with faculty, staff and university partners to advance our mission and support our vibrant community. I am fortunate to be joined by an outstanding team of experienced and committed colleagues, including Honors College Assistant Dean Kevin Stoller, National and Global Scholarships Advising Director LeAnn Adam and Design for Social Impact Director Julie Tucker, and I encourage you to reach out to me or anyone on the Honors College team with questions or ideas.

The Honors College is well positioned for a successful future. The college’s student population has continued to grow, more than doubling over the last decade, and alumni and donor engagement have reached unprecedented levels as the HC enters its fourth decade as a college. The new 2030 Strategic Plan offers an exciting template to build on this momentum in the years ahead.

Above all, the remarkable students who make up the Honors College continue to amaze and inspire me. This is a place where the people who will build a better tomorrow realize their full potential and go beyond what they ever thought possible. If you are interested in joining the Honors College as a student, I invite you to reach out and learn more. If you are interested in engaging with or supporting the HC and its students, please don’t hesitate to connect. I look forward to all that we can accomplish together.
