Student Archivist Internship

The HC & SCARC Archivist Position

The Honors College and OSU Libraries’ Special Collections & Archives Research Center (SCARC) partner to offer two Student Archivist positions each year. This long-standing collaboration has allowed HC students opportunities to develop valuable research and archival experience and explore world-class resources like the Ava Helen and Linus Pauling Papers.

This prestigious position, funded jointly by the HC and OSU Libraries, is awarded on an annual basis to two students. The selected students have a distinctive role in the Special Collections & Archives Research Center, and they will also have opportunities to share information and unique knowledge with other Honors College students. Generally, position openings are announced in the late summer or early fall, and the position runs for one year.

Past Archivists

Kelly Blasen assisted with the cataloging of the Ava Helen and Linus Pauling Papers, as well as other collections related to the history of science.

Michelle Cassinelli was responsible for organizing a major conference, “The Scientist as Educator and Public Citizen: Linus Pauling and His Era”.

Anna Wilsey researched the finding aid for the Canine Research Collection, one of the largest resources on dogs and dog breeding available on the west coast.

Christy Turner was a key member of SCARC’s marketing team for several events and also wrote a public services manual still used in the department today.

Ethan Heusser studied the collection of Paul Persiani, a nuclear scientist who worked on the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, among other diverse artifacts.
