THIS WEEK! Health Professions Career Fair Information Session
Missed the Health Professions Career Fair earlier on April 21, or want a chance to connect more personally with program representatives? Join the Pre-Medical Society and other OSU professional clubs for a smaller, more interactive panel featuring a diverse group of healthcare programs. This session will include representatives from OHSU’s Nursing, Physician Assistant (PA) and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programs, as well as COMP-NW’s podiatry and medical programs. Unlike the larger career fair setting, this panel offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with speakers, hear about their experiences and gain deeper insight into each career path. The panel will take place on April 21 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in FURM 101. Come prepared with questions, whether you’re exploring options, preparing to apply or just curious about different paths in healthcare. This is a great chance to learn more! THIS WEEK! Distracted Driving Mario Kart
The Honors College and the Department of Safety are teaming up this April for Distracted Driving Awareness Month for this fun event! Students will hear from the Department of Safety about why safe, focused driving matters and how everyday distractions can have serious consequences on the road. Then, your Mario Kart skills with a twist by racing while wearing “dizzy goggles,” which simulate impaired vision and reaction time. Join us on Thursday, April 23 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. in LiNC 343 to learn, laugh and connect with the Department of Safety—and don’t forget to stop by and say hi to Cedar! NEW! Honors College Annual Thesis Fair
Come celebrate our HC students’ thesis research and culminating projects at our annual Thesis Fair! On Friday, May 29, students will present lightning talks in person on the Corvallis campus from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Then, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., students will showcase their honors thesis research through poster presentations on the third floor of the Learning Innovation Center, where they will be available to discuss their work. It's a great way to learn about the different research your peers have been involved in.

NEW! Research Participants Needed: Share Your Views on AI Chatbots like ChatGPT
The Oregon State School of Public Policy is seeking participants for a study on students’ experiences with and views on large language model tools such as ChatGPT and Gemini. Participants will complete a brief survey and an in-depth interview on these topics and will be entered into a drawing to win one of six $50 prepaid gift cards. THIS WEEK! Explore Additional Credentials at the Transdisciplinary Minor and Certificate Fair
Tuesday, April 21, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Student Experience Center Lobby. Curious about adding a minor or certificate to your degree? The Transdisciplinary Minor and Certificate Fair brings together 25 to 30 cross-unit academic programs in one place, from humanitarian engineering and environmental justice to peace studies, marine conservation, and more. Stop by to talk directly with program representatives from across campus. An advisor will also be available on site, so if you're ready to declare a minor or certificate, you can start the process that same day.
The fair takes place alongside OSU's Beyond Earth Day celebration outside the SEC, and it's Food Truck Tuesday at the MU/SEC, so there's plenty of reason to be in the area. Survey Responses Needed: Share Perceptions of Health and Safety in Corvallis
Audrey Davis, a chemical engineering undergraduate student is requesting your participation in a survey they are conducting as part of their honors thesis study. This survey aims to document perceptions of the health and safety of recreation in the Willamette River within the Corvallis community. Responses will be kept anonymous and summaries of results will be reported in Audrey's thesis. The link to the survey is here. HCSA puts together social events, academic events, professional development events, and more. Join HCSA and help make great events happen! The Honors College Student Association holds general meetings every Monday from 5-6:00 p.m. in LInC 343. Stage 4 Thesis Drop-In Workshop Hours
The HC is excited to offer drop-in thesis hours for students who are in stage 4 of their thesis! Anytime Anywhere: MySSP @ OSU App
Anytime Anywhere: MySSP @ OSU is an app that gives all OSU students, including Ecampus students, 24/7 access by text or phone with a licensed mental health counselor (MySSP stands for “My Student Support Program”). The app makes it easy to schedule short-term counseling appointments with the same ongoing counselor and provides educational materials covering mental health topics. Students can communicate with a counselor in five different languages (Mandarin, Cantonese, French, Spanish or English); additional language options are available upon request. Interested in Graduate or Professional School? Take GRAD 420 (Ecampus)
Applying for graduate or professional school can be a daunting task. Add GRAD 420 to your spring class schedule. How and where to apply, how to choose an advisor, what to look for in a school, and how to obtain funding are hurdles to overcome during the application process. Supplemental materials will be provided as part of the course materials. Thanks to a surge of interest, a second section of the course has been added for Spring. Learn more in the GRAD 420 course overview video. 1 credit (Ecampus).
DSI 415H, MULTIDISCIPLINARY DESIGN FOR SOCIAL IMPACT, 4 Credits (Via Ecampus)
Need help finding a thesis research project? DSI 415/415H utilizes design thinking and methodologies through project and multidisciplinary team-based learning to develop real-world solutions to complex problems of importance in society. It promotes collaboration across arts, business, engineering, humanities, and the sciences as well as other disciplines. Projects are sponsored by real clients like non-profit organizations or research faculty at OSU. Some honors students have used this class as an opportunity to kick start their thesis work and identify a faculty research mentor. Ecampus enrollment restriction ends week 10 and on campus students may enroll.

Honors College Emergency Grant
The Honors College Emergency Grant supports students facing unexpected expenses related to housing and/or meals, course materials or equipment for a class, healthcare and/or mental healthcare costs, vehicle repairs necessary for travel to class, and/or travel home for family emergencies. Grants are for up to $500, with a limit of two grants during your time in the HC. Only expenses related to the above list are eligible for emergency grant support, per university policy. Tuition or other general costs of enrollment are not eligible for funding.
HC Experiential Learning Scholarship
The Honors College Experiential Learning Scholarship supports student engagement in the honors thesis (thesis proposal required), attendance at professional or academic conferences, payment of non-tuition fees associated with honors courses, or participation in an honors study abroad program. Applications are reviewed based on need, and the maximum award is $750. See here for additional information. Applications can be submitted through ScholarDollars and evaluated on a rolling basis.

Student Job: JumpstART Night Shift RA
JumpstART is a one week residential camp at Oregon State University for +/-fifty high school
students. The program blends studio art classes, visiting artist lectures, and evening activities.
The Residential staff will be employed for a one week period, Sunday, June 21-Friday, June 26.
This includes mandatory training on Sunday, June 21th, and any other times as determined by
the camp director. Residential Assistant’s (RA) primary charge is to provide supervision for participants and ensure
their safety and well-being. Night Shift RAs supervise participants during the night when
campers are asleep in the dorms, in the morning when campers are getting ready and at

Lights of Hope Relay: Students Advocating for Change
CARE is hosting Lights of Hope, a Relay for Life event honoring cancer survivors, remembering loved ones lost and bringing the OSU community together to support the American Cancer Society. Join us on Friday, May 8, from 4–9 p.m. at the Memorial Union Quad for an evening of reflection, community and connection. Workshops are a great way to improve your writing, create better study habits, or learn a new skill. This list of online workshops is offered as a resource to succeed on campus:
Every fall, winter and spring, the Academic Success Center offer an online workshop series on academic success topics. Workshops are held weeks 2 through 10 and cover a variety of topics to support you in your learning and study at OSU.
The Writing Center in the Valley Library offers workshops as an opportunity to engage with other students around writing topics. All workshops are 50 minutes long and take place via Zoom
HC Resources
The Honors College main office in LInC 450 is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. HC staff is on hand during business hours to assist with questions, help with scheduling appointments or just chat and share some free candy.
